The Bark at Central Park

The Central Park Dog Park project, located near the intersection of Base Line Road and Spruce Avenue, commonly known as “The Bark at Central Park”—is a 4.4-acre recreational facility developed as part of the City of Rancho Cucamonga’s long-term master plan to expand and activate Central Park. Completed in late 2023 at an approximate construction cost of $3.5 million, the project was delivered with construction management services provided by Aufbau Corporation. The dog park was designed to provide a modern, safe, and dedicated off-leash environment for dogs while also serving as a key early phase in the buildout of the larger 100-acre park. It includes three separate enclosed areas to accommodate large dogs, small dogs, and flexible use, along with agility equipment, durable turf and decomposed granite surfaces, shaded seating for pet owners, drinking fountains for both dogs and humans, and supporting amenities such as lighting, parking, and restrooms. The development of the park also included undergrounding major utilities for the project as well as for future phased developments within Central Park. Beyond its immediate function, the project plays a strategic role in preparing infrastructure and encouraging community use of previously undeveloped park land, helping set the stage for future phases of park development.
